A message from Caroline Holland, Director of Corporate Services

Dear Candidate,

Thank you for your expression of interest in our post of Assistant Director of Resources. These are exciting times at Merton; we aspire to be London’s Best Council by 2020.  We are an ambitious Council that is delivering economic growth whilst maintaining a good quality of life and environment for all who live and work here.

Whoever we select will play a vital role in shaping the Council’s services.  You will be an exceptional leader, who is prepared to inspire and challenge.  If you are interested in doing something different with a broader remit than just finance, you can be a corporate player here where your innovation and creativity is encouraged.

You will proactively look for opportunities to deliver services that represent the best value for money.  A change champion, you will be eager to get involved in key corporate programmes of work to ensure good outcomes are delivered.

As a qualified finance professional, you will act as the Deputy Section 151 Officer.  You will lead our strategic and corporate finance service and be an active member on our Improvement and Procurement Boards.

In return, you will join a team who are all committed to achieving our objectives.  We are seeking individuals who have skills, which will provide consensus, as well as reform; who will build on what is good, and change what requires revision. You will be part of a well-established and settled Departmental Management Team that is focused and collaborative, and works on strong relationships with Members to continue to move Merton forward.

If you feel that you would be able to meet the challenges of working in this dynamic context, and have the skills to support our vision, I hope that this site contains sufficient information to persuade you to apply.

Kind regards

Caroline Holland
Director of Corporate Services
